University of Virginia | Football & Basketball Athletic Experiences
For the University of Virginia, these athletics facility projects were about more than creating impressive spaces. They were about telling the story of UVA basketball and football in a way that could build pride, connect generations, and help shape the future of each program. The Basketball Hall of Fame at John Paul Jones Arena brings Cavalier history to life along the recruiting pathway, team offices, and practice facilities, while the McCue Football Complex transformed an outdated environment into a modern space built around recruiting, team culture, and the daily experience of its athletes.
Every detail had a purpose. Historic photography, artifacts, action imagery, dynamic graphics, interactive technology, video, and custom exhibit structures were brought together to create spaces that feel authentic to the programs and the people who are part of them. The goal wasn't simply to display history, but to make it something recruits, players, alumni, donors, and fans could experience for themselves.
The result was a collection of environments designed to make people feel something. To walk in and understand where the program came from. To see where it's going. And, most importantly, to feel like they are part of the story.
Echo Four worked in partnership with DJS Design to help bring these experiences to life through creative direction, visual storytelling, and environmental design.
